TIPS 2009, the principal international conference on the topic of upper limb prosthetics, will be held from 18th to 20th May 2009 at the prestigious Burleigh Court Conference Centre, a first class venue located in the hear of the Trent area, convenient for both national and international delegates, providing excellent meeting and leisure facilities and flexible exhibition accommodation.
This three day symposium offers a mixed programme of guest lectures, invited speakers, scientific and clinical papers. We are pleased to welcome John Miguelez, founder of Advanced Arm Dynamics and Kristin Gulick, renowned Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist as guest speakers from the USA. In addition, Dr Stephanie Lacour, Research Fellow of the Royal Society and King’s College, from Cambridge Nanoscience Centre will give a keynote presentation entitled “Prosthetic Electronic Skin: How to integrate sensory feedback on conformal artificial skin”, whilst Frank Letch, famous for his “Feet First” lectures, polished and entertaining speeches, and tireless work raising awareness and support for REACH will provide a user’s perspective to the proceedings. Free papers and short clinical case studies will be presented by rehabilitation professionals from across the globe. In all the programme promises to be of a high international standard.
Five manufacturer’s workshops will be held on Tuesday 19th May by Polymer Systems Technology Ltd , Motion Control Inc , Otto Bock Healthcare PLC , RSL Steeper Ltd and Touch Bionics .
The Wenesday afternoon programme will also include four instructional workshops covering topics including harnessing and control techniques and silicone innovations.
A commercial exhibition will run concurrently with the symposium on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th May with confirmed exhibitors including Bentley Chemicals Ltd, Motion Control Inc , Ortho Europe Ltd, Otto Bock Healthcare PLC , RSLSteeper Ltd , Realistic Prosthetics , REACH, Stanmore Implants , Touch Bionics and University of Strathclyde .
