Challenges for measurement and monitoring of risk in the diabetic foot – the development of a novel in-shoe system - D Parker

Foot ulceration causes irreparable damage to the tissue of the foot leading to considerably increased risk of subsequent complications and re-ulceration. This potential consequence affects every individual with diabetes, increasing the burden on patients to manage their ‘risk status’ and inevitably impacting on their lifestyle in some way. The development of technology which can measure, monitor, and alert users to potential risk enables an unloading of the conscious effort and may empower patients to act with more confidence.
